Students were introduced to Gyotaku through a short historical recount of how Gyotaku came to be and the ancient art form’s purpose. The participants learned that the Indian River Lagoon supports over 685 species of fish, 310 species of birds, 1350 species of plants and 2765 species of animals.
A demonstration of how to do the fish printing followed and each participant was encouraged to create a fish print of their own. The photographs of their creations are a sampling of the artwork created at the workshop.
